Asia Photography Tours will give you an experience that you won’t forget. We visit Vietnam during the wet season. This gives us the most amazing light and drama for photography. We arrive in the south at the capital Ho Chi Minh city then travel through the midlands to the North. Finally arriving in Halong Bay to finish your tour by the setting sun on Halong Bay.


Day 1. Check in, relax, evening rooftop photography session.

We will pick you up from the airport and check you in to our hotel. Relax and unwind from your travels. Have a refreshing swim in the pool, grab some lunch. In the evening we will meet on a secret rooftop bar overlooking the busiest intersection in the city. This will give you some amazing photos of the sprawling cityscape and dramatic skyline. A wide angle lens is recommended for this day.


Day 2. Ho Chi Minh city street photography

Group breakfast followed by a group discussion to introduce each member of the group. We will discuss the cultural background of the country, the etiquette, how to politely take photos, a few basic phrases and so on. We take our time wandering through the markets and streets of Ho Chi Minh city. For anyone who enjoys street photography you will love this day. The city is 24/7 non stop feast for your lens. We spend the evening in the city square which is full of life and action. Take your time here and photograph the light trails of the vibrant and bustling city square. A 35 or 50 mm lens is recommended for this day.


Day 3. Can Tho, water markets, streets, evening rooftop photo session.

We start early in the morning with a drive south to the river city of Chan Tho. This is the city famous for the water markets. Don’t be fooled by the tourist agents selling you this river market tour. You really need to know where and when to go to get the great images here. We visit the markets the waterfront boardwalks and the interesting local streets, followed up in the evening by a rooftop photography session at the highest viewpoint on the waterfront. Sip a cold drink and take your time with twilight photography here. a 70-200 mm lens is recommended for this day.


Day 4. Morning Mekong river cruise, afternoon countryside drive, evening in HCMC

In the early morning we take a river cruise along the Mekong and get the chance to really capture some great images of the locals fishing and going about their day to day lives. After lunch we take our time traveling back to Ho Chi Minh city stopping along the way to take images. We check into our hotel and relax for the evening. A 50 mm lens is recommended for this day.


Day 5. All about Danang

We travel by air to Danang. In the heart of Vietnam’s middle Danang offers some amazing photography opportunities. We take a tour through the city visiting markets, temples, chinatown and more. We finish up the evening taking photos of the sunset along the beach. A wide angle lens is recommended for this day.


Day 6. Danang streets, historic buildings, editing session and Marble mountain.

In the morning we take our time to explore the streets and markets of Danang. In the afternoon we hold an editing session at the hotel to share and discuss our images. In the evening we visit Marble Mountain. Here we will have the opportunity to get some amazing photos in the evening light. A 70-200 mm lens is recommended for this day.


Day 7. Hanoi the nations capital

In the morning we travel by air to Hanoi. Here we check into our hotel in the historic old quarter. These streets are bustling with photography opportunities. We explore the city streets and in the evening finish up at a rooftop bar overlooking the busy city intersection where we can capture amazing cityscape shots. a wide angle lens is recommended for this day.


Day 8. Hanoi model session, Hanoi streets

Still in Hanoi we have the privilege of photographing some local models in traditional Vietnamese clothing. This session will last about 2 hours. After this we head back to the hotel to escape the heat of the day and process our images in a group editing workshop. In the evening we take a walk through the city and photograph the old colonial are pre colonial architecture that still remains in Hanoi. a wide angle and 50 mm lens are recommended for this day.


Day 9. Ha Long city and Ha Long bay

Early morning we travel to Ha Long city. Famous for the geographical limestone features in the bay there is more here than just the usual landscape shots. There is an amazing fish market absolutely teeming with color and action. The locals all wear more traditional Vietnamese style clothing in Ha Long so this makes for great photos. The city is nestled amongst towering cliffs and the photography opportunities are simply amazing. A wide angle and a 200 mm lens are recommended for this day.


Day 10. Ha Long bay boat cruise.

We take a day cruise around Halong Bay to get nice and close to the limestone cliffs jutting out of the water. The colors here are amazing. Take your time whilst we travel around the bay in luxury and photograph one of the most amazing locations in Vietnam. A telephoto lens around 200 mm is recommended for this day.


Day 11. Morning in Ha Long then back to Hanoi

We capture the early morning light at Ha Long bay. Capture the traditional fishing boats returning from the overnight catch. See the light kissing the tops of the limestone cliffs jutting out of the water. In the afternoon we travel back to Hanoi to check in to our Hotel then we have a group dinner to celebrate the trip and discuss share all our fantastic images. A 50 mm lens is recommended for this day.


Day 12. Early morning photography and airport transfers.

For guests departing at different times we will arrange the airport transfers for you. For all those still around on the day we travel through historical Hanoi to seek out the last few fantastic images from your trip. A 50 mm lens is recommended for this day.
