Why join this tour?

Asia Photography Tours will give you an experience that you won’t forget. We visit Cambodia during the time of the Khmer new year. The entire country is celebrating and all the people are so joyous and happy. There are decorations all through the streets and shops. From novice to expert level, anyone can join in and capture truly amazing photos.


Day 1. Check in, relax, night photo walk

We will pick you up from Siem Reap airport and check you in to our hotel. Relax and unwind from your travels. Have a refreshing swim in the pool, grab some food. In the evening we will take a photography walk through downtown Siem Reap. We’ll get some street food on the go. Visit the night markets, Pub street and the river district. Here you can get a feel for the country whilst taking some great images.


Day 2. Group breakfast, temples, relax, evening photo walk

  • Group breakfast followed by a group discussion to introduce each member of the group. We will discuss the cultural background of the country, the etiquette, how to politely take photos, a few basic phrases and so on.
  • We travel to Angkor Thom, Angkor Bayon and Tah Prohm. Here you will see some magical opportunities to create some fantastic images.
  • We come back to the hotel for a few hours to let you relax and have a swim and dinner etc.
  • We close the day with a 1 hour night photography walk through Siem Reap.


Day 3. Tonle Sap lake cruise. Kampong Khleang village. Visit the people who lives their whole lives on the water.

We start early in the morning with a short drive to Tonle Sap lake. The largest inland lake in South East Asia. We take a full day boat cruise around the lake and visit the villagers living on the lake in floating villages. These locals spend their entire lives on the lake. The lake community has everything the locals need to live including schools, sporting courts, markets and more. We also visit Kampong Khleang village, a photographers dream. Lunch included. A 200 mm lens is recommended if you have one.


Day 4. Angkor Wat, Phnom Kulen National Park

We depart early in the morning for the amazing Angkor Wat. Here we will capture the sunrise and stay to walk amongst the temple during the morning. Visit the sunroom, see the moat systems, see the local monks during prayer. In the afternoon we travel to Phnom Kulen National Park to visit the amazing waterfalls. We will visit many amazing photography opportunities in the park including the reclining busan and ancient carvings now wrapped in tree roots, dating back to the 16th century. Take your time and even have a swim in the cool water. A wide angle lens is recommended for this day.


Day 5. Preah Khan Kompong Svay, River cruise on the Stung Sen river.

In the morning we travel to Preah Khan Kompong Svay. Referred to as Angkor Wat without the tourists. The temple complex is off the beaten tourist path and this will allow you to take your time and capture those truly amazing photographs. In the evening we check in to our hotel and then take a river cruise on the Stung Sen river. This is the time to capture those golden and black silhouette images that we all love. a 50 mm lens is recommended for this day.


Day 6. Kampong Cham province. Historical architecture, markets.

We take our minibus to Kampong Cham province. Stopping along the way to take photos at the best spots. We check in to our 4 star hotel on the Mekong river. Relax for a couple of hours and then its time for a walking street photography session through the market streets and along the beautiful prominade of Kampong Cham city. Known for it’s French colonial buildings and relaxed atmosphere this beautiful city is a delight to photograph. A wide angle lens and a 50 mm lens are recommended for this day.


Day 7. Mekong River boat cruise. Model session, Editing session

We photograph early morning at the fresh food market. After breakfast we take a morning scenic boat cruise along the Mekong river. This cruise will allow us to photograph the fishing villages, the locals going about day to day activities along the riverside. After lunch we will conduct another model session with locals dressed in the traditional Khmer clothing. In the afternoon we have a group editing session to discuss our work and put some of our images through post processing. A 70-200 mm lens is recommended for this day.


Day 8. We travel along the Mekong to Phnom Penh

We travel by boat cruise along the Mekong in the morning to Phnom Penh. “The Pearl of Asia”. After lunch we check in to our hotel. We relax for a couple of hours then its time to hit the streets for some street photography in PP. We will photograph the old french colonial architecture, the street vendors, the hustle and bustle of Cambodias capital city. At twilight it’s time for a rooftop sunset photo session. Come to a fantastic viewing point in the city to capture that magical landscape shot. A wide angle lens is recommended for this day.


Day 9. Phnom Penh street photography, Group Dinner

Our Phnom Penh contact takes us through the city and we gain access to the best photography locations around. We take our time to make sure everyone gets the photos they want. In the evening we gather together for a group dinner in a nice restaurant to review our trip and look over our images. A 35 or 50 mm lens is recommended for this day.


Day 10. Early morning photography and airport transfers.

For guests departing at different times we will arrange the airport transfers for you. For all those still around on the day we travel through historical Phnom Penh to seek out the last few fantastic images from your trip.
